Every day, people do thoughtful things for each other that never get noticed: a neighbour who carries groceries, a colleague who stays late to help, a stranger who returns a lost wallet. KindWave was built to celebrate these moments. Aveqro created the web and mobile experience that lets users nominate someone for an act of kindness, tell the story, and share photos or videos, creating a growing wall of positivity.
The challenge
The idea sounds simple, but community platforms succeed or fail on tone and trust. The founders wanted a space that felt warm and welcoming, free from the negativity common on social networks. That meant careful design, thoughtful moderation, and an easy way to share stories without technical hurdles. The platform also had to handle photo and video uploads smoothly on ordinary mobile connections.
Project goals
We aligned on a clear set of goals for the first release:

Our approach
We began by defining the emotional tone of the product. Our designers chose bright, friendly colours, rounded shapes, and encouraging microcopy, and tested early prototypes with a small group of volunteers. They told us the biggest barrier was not knowing what to write, so we added gentle prompts such as what happened and how did it feel. This small change made stories richer and more personal.

Technology and architecture
The mobile app uses React Native for a consistent experience on iOS and Android, while a Laravel backend with MySQL manages users, stories, and moderation. Photos and videos are uploaded directly to AWS S3 with automatic compression, keeping the app fast and storage costs under control. Firebase Cloud Messaging delivers push notifications, and a web version lets people view and share stories from any browser. Beautiful social share cards are generated automatically for each story.
Overcoming technical challenges
Video was the most demanding feature. We implemented chunked, resumable uploads so that a dropped connection does not force users to start again, and we compressed files on the device before sending. For moderation, we combined automated checks for inappropriate content with a review queue for administrators, so harmful material is caught quickly without slowing down genuine stories.
Results and impact
Since launch, KindWave has built an engaged community that shares stories daily. Many nominations come from people who simply wanted to thank someone, and recipients often respond by sharing their own stories, creating a pleasant chain reaction. The platform has also attracted interest from schools, workplaces, and charities looking for positive ways to engage their members.
Kindness is contagious, and a good platform simply gives it room to spread.
