Daily life is full of small tasks that eat into precious time: picking up groceries, collecting a parcel, dropping off documents, or buying a forgotten item. QuickErrand was created to take those jobs off people's hands. Aveqro built the customer app, the runner app, and the admin platform that connect people who need help with trusted runners nearby, all with live tracking and clear pricing.
The challenge
An on-demand service depends on several parts working perfectly together. Customers must be able to describe a task in seconds, the system must find a nearby runner quickly, and both sides need to see progress in real time. Trust and safety were also essential, because runners handle personal items and enter community spaces. The client needed a platform that was fast, transparent, and easy to manage as the service expanded to new areas.
Project goals
We set these goals with the QuickErrand team:
- Let customers post an errand in under a minute
- Match each task with a suitable nearby runner automatically
- Provide live tracking, chat, and status updates
- Offer upfront pricing and simple, secure payments
- Give administrators full control over runners, orders, and zones
Our approach
We mapped the entire journey from both perspectives: the customer who is busy and wants peace of mind, and the runner who wants clear tasks and fair earnings. Prototypes of both apps were tested with early users, which taught us that photos and short notes make errands far clearer than long forms. We therefore built a request screen with a few simple fields, optional photos, and a clear price estimate before confirmation.
Key features
QuickErrand brings together tools for customers, runners, and administrators:
- Simple task creation for shopping, delivery, pickup, and custom errands
- Automatic runner matching based on distance, rating, and availability
- Live map tracking with estimated arrival times
- In-app chat and call masking to protect privacy
- Receipt upload, tipping, ratings, and order history
- Admin panel for zones, pricing, runner verification, and reports
Technology and architecture
Both mobile apps are built with Flutter, sharing a common design and speeding up delivery. A Laravel backend with MySQL manages orders, users, and payments, while Firebase supports live location updates and push notifications. The Google Maps API provides routing, distance, and arrival time calculations. The matching engine considers runner proximity and workload, and re-assigns the task automatically if a runner does not accept within a short time. Payments are processed through secure gateways, with wallet balances and automatic runner payouts.
Overcoming technical challenges
Live tracking across thousands of updates required care to avoid draining phone batteries and server resources. We tuned location updates to adapt to movement and used efficient data structures so the map stays smooth. Safety was handled through identity checks for runners, ratings after each task, and an in-app support option. Pricing logic was also refined to balance distance, task size, and demand fairly for both sides.
Results and impact
QuickErrand now helps busy people reclaim hours every week, and runners enjoy flexible work with transparent earnings. Orders are matched quickly, tracking keeps customers informed, and strong ratings help maintain service quality. The administrators can open new areas with little effort thanks to the zone management tools.
The best service feels like having a helpful neighbour who is always nearby.
Looking ahead
Future plans include scheduled and recurring errands, business accounts, and partnerships with local stores. If you are planning an on-demand or delivery platform, the team at Aveqro Technologies can help you build it from first prototype to full launch.
